5.5 mm/US Size 9 circular needle, 16 inches long,

4 Double pointed needles, same size (for crown)

Gauge: 16 Stitches = 4 inches

The order in which you use the yarns is not critical. However, it is suggested that you use Yarn A for the band (Rows 1-9) because it is the softest yarn in the bundle and that will be against the wearer’s forehead!

The hat band measures approximately 17 inches around (stretches to 22+). The hat is approximately 12 inches from the band to the top.

Cast on 84 Stitches with Yarn A. Join in the round, being careful not to twist.

Rows 1-9: With Yarn A *Knit 1, Purl 1* Repeat from * to * around

Rows 10-17: Knit all Rows with Yarn B

Rows 18-25: Purl all Rows with Yarn C

Rows 26-33: Knit all Rows with Yarn D

Rows 34-41: Purl all Rows with Yarn E

Rows 42-49: Knit all rows with Yarn A

Rows 50-57: Purl all Rows with Yarn B

Rows 58-65: Knit all Rows with Yarn C

Rows 66-70: Purl all Rows with Yarn D

Rows 71: *Purl 10 stitches, Purl 2 Together* Repeat from * to * around

Row 72: *Purl 9 stitches, Purl 2 Together* Repeat from * to * around

Rows 75:- 81 Switch to Yarn E, and switch to Double Pointed Needles as needed

Cut yarn approximately 8 inches from the end. Thread with a darning needle and pull the yarn end through the remaining stitches, gently pull snug and secure. Weave in the ends and attach a pompom if desired.
