Supplies: 1 Skein Cat Mountain Fiber Arts Fusion 250 yarn. Fusion 250 consists of 50 yards each of 5 different yarns.

5.0 mm/US Size 8 Double pointed needles

Gauge: 16-18 Stitches = 4 inches

A – 80% Merino Wool/20% Bamboo (Smooth, light sheen)
B - 89% Alpaca/11% Polyamide (Soft Boucle)
C - 100% Wool (Smooth wool yarn)
D - 75% Merino Wool/20% Silk/5% Stellina * (Sparkle)
E – 56% Alpaca/44% Cotton (Soft and fuzzy)

*This yarn may be a Merino Wool and NEP (Tweed) blend


The order in which you choose to use the yarns is not critical, though we think that the soft boucle looks very nice as trim at the ends of the mitts! The described order is the way the sample mitts were knit.

Cast on 32 Stitches with Yarn A. Join in the round, being careful not to twist.

Rounds 1-13: With Yarn A *Knit 1, Purl 1* Repeat from * to * around

Rounds 14-23: Knit all Rows with Yarn B

Thumb Gusset:

Round 24: At the beginning of the round, place a marker. Knit 1 in the front and back of the stitch, knit one, knit one in the front and back of the next stitch. Knit the remaining stitches in this round

Round 25: Knit all stitches even, slipping the marker.+

Change to Yarn C

Round 26: In the first stitch of the round (which is the first stitch after the marker), Knit 1 in the front and back of the stitch, knit three, knit one in the front and back of the next stitch. Knit the remaining stitches in this round.

Round 27: Knit all stitches even, slipping the marker.

Round 28: In the first stitch of the round (which is the first stitch after the marker), Knit 1 in the front and back of the stitch, knit five, knit one in the front and back of the next stitch. Knit the remaining stitches in this round.

Round 29: Knit all stitches even, slipping the marker.

Round 30: In the first stitch of the round (which is the first stitch after the marker), Knit 1 in the front and back of the stitch, knit seven, knit one in the front and back of the next stitch. Knit the remaining stitches in this round.

Round 31: Knit all stitches even, slipping the marker.

Round 32: In the first stitch of the round (which is the first stitch after the marker), Knit 1 in the front and back of the stitch, knit nine, knit one in the front and back of the next stitch. Knit the remaining stitches in this round.

Round 33: Knit all stitches even, slipping the marker.

Round 34: In the first stitch of the round (which is the first stitch after the marker), Knit 1 in the front and back of the stitch, knit eleven, knit one in the front and back of the next stitch. Knit the remaining stitches in this round.

Round 35: Knit all stitches even, when reaching the marker, place the next 13 stitches onto waste yarn, removing the marker

Rounds 36-39: Knit all rows even, using Yarn C

Change to Yarn D

Rounds 40-51: Knit all rows even

Change to Yarn E

Rounds 52-55: Knit all rows even, bind off knitwise.

Thumb:

Place the 13 stitches on the waste yarn on a needle, and pick up 3 additional stitches along the inside of the thumb gusset. With Yarn C, Knit 3 rows.

Change to Yarn E, Knit 2 rows with Yarn E, bind off knitwise.

Weave in ends.
