Sample knitted in colorway Alpine Autumn |
Supplies: Two Cat Mountain Fiber Arts Fusion 800 Skeins (Fingering Weight). 3.75 mm/US Size 5 circular needle, 90cm/36inch or longer. Fusion 800 skeins include 8 different yarns. You may choose to knit the yarns in whatever order you wish, though we suggest that the slub yarn be used for the center panel in which drop stitch is not used, because drop stitch is somewhat difficult to execute with this yarn. The sample was knit such that the two sides are a mirror or one another, with the slub yarn in the center. Fusion 800 Yarns & Descriptions: 38% Baby Alpaca/25% Merino Wool/37% Pima Cotton (Fuzzy) 60% SW Merino Wool/30% Bamboo/10%Nylon (Lighter color, sheen) 100% SW Merino Wool (Dark color, smooth and soft) 90% Merino Wool/10% Nylon (Slub) 85% SW Merino Wool/15% NEP (Tweed flecks) 75% SW Merino Wool/20%Nylon/5%Stellina (Sparkle) 70% Merino Wool/30% Silk (Single ply, sheen) 75% Merino Wool/15% Nylon/10% Tencel (Darker color, sheen) Supplies: Two Skeins of Cat Mountain Fiber Arts Fusion 800 Skein in Fingering Weight. The finished garment measures approximately 28 inches wide and 70 inches in length. Gauge – Approximately 6 stitches (in garter stitch) per inch. You will change yarns as each one runs out. We suggest beginning and ending with a smooth textured yarn for the edges. With the first yarn, Loosely cast on 298 stitches using long tail cast on, or your favorite cast on method. Rows 1-6: Knit all stitches Row 7: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 8: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Rows 9-10: Knit all stitches Row 11: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 12: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Rows 13-14: Knit all stitches Row 15: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 16: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Rows 17-32: Knit all stitches Rows 33-84: Repeat Rows 7-32 two more times. Row 85: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 86: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Rows 87-88: Knit all stitches Row 89: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 90: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Note it is suggested that for the next section (which is the center garter stitch panel) that you use the slub yarn, except as noted. Rows 91-104: Knit all stitches Row 105: Knit 150 Stitches. Leave the slub yarn tail without cutting it, join a smooth yarn, and bind off the remaining 148 stitches of this row, leaving the first 150 stitches of this row on the needle. We suggest you use a different/smooth textured yarn for the bind off as it will leave a more attractive edge than the slub yarn. Row 106: Using the same yarn as you used for the bind off, cast on 148 stitches onto your needle. Cut the cast on yarn and join the end of the cast on with the previous row, and knit across 150 stitches with the slub yarn. Rows 107-122: Knit all stitches. You will now essentially repeat the previous section in reverse, and we suggest that you use the yarns in a reverse order so that you have a symmetrical garment. Row 123: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 124: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Rows 125-126: Knit all stitches Row 127: *Knit 1, Yarn Over 2 Times** Repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, Knit 1 Row 128: Knit all stitches, dropping yarn over loops from the previous row Rows 129-144: Knit all stitches Rows 145- 170: Repeat Rows 7-32 once. Rows 171-13: Repeat Rows 7-29. Bind off. Weave in ends, block by soaking in water with a drop of shampoo or wool wash, then roll in a towel and pin out on a flat surface. Wear and look beautiful! |
